tectonic
Tectonic refers to the ever-shifting plates beneath us, and the resulting patchwork rock substrate that makes up the west coast of North America. Coastal California's Pacific and North American plates are subducting and moving in a southwesterly direction, scraping off an array of ancient terrains. The Tectonic series, with its intersecting rectangles of vellum washed in inks and acrylics, envisions these patterns of rock shifting beneath us.
